Audio Content (selected)
I direct scripted, fiction podcasts. I worked as Gen-Z Media’s Producing Director, casting, producing and directing scripted podcasts for kids.
Here's a great piece in the New York Times about podcasts for kids.
Below are some of my favorites. A complete listing (including links to listen) can be found on the Resume page of this site.
Six Minutes
Written by Tom Casiello, Marla Kanelos, and Nidhi Mehta
Produced by Gen-Z Media
Eleven-year-old Holiday is pulled from the icy waters of Alaska with no memory of who she is or where she came from. Are her mom and dad really who they say they are? When she begins to develop incredible abilities, she’ll soon discover she’s not alone in the world.
I directed over 200 episodes of this mystery-thriller podcast. Be sure to start listening with episode 1 - this is not a story you can pick up in the middle.
The Unexplainable Disappearance of Mars Patel
Written by David Kreizman, Jenny Turner Hall, Chris Tarry, and Benjamin Strouse
I directed seasons 2 and 3 of this scripted podcast. It is a fun, high-quality, sci-fi serial mystery. Season 1 was voted as one of the top 50 podcasts of 2016 by The Guardian, and was recently honored with a Peabody award. Mars Patel is also a 2017 Webby Award nominee for Best Audio Drama & Best Sound Design/Original Music Score. And it was recently optioned to be adapted for television! The show is enjoyed around the world by kids and adults alike.
You can buy the 9-CD box set of the entire series or just Season 3 at CD Baby. Or sign up at Pinna.fm to hear seasons 2 and 3 streaming online (the first 30 days are free, so be prepared to binge listen, or keep your membership going for lots of other great kids’ audio content).
The Magic Sash
Written by Sandy Rustin and David Kreizman
Produced by the Women’s suffrage centennial commission, the National Park Service, TRAX from PRX, and Gen-Z Media.
Directed by Michelle Tattenbaum
The Magic Sash is a journey back in time hosted by gold medal gymnast and advocate Aly Raisman. Join Lotty and Isaiah, two very modern fifth graders, as they meet iconic heroes of the movement for women’s right to vote and experience big moments in women’s suffrage first-hand. They’ll learn that what women (and men) fought for — women’s full political equality — isn’t dusty history at all.
